1st XI Match Report vs South Shore (Home)

Date: Saturday 23rd May
Result: BAC/EE Preston Won by 7 wickets
Points: 9

Report

After a shocking week of weather, we arrived at the Riverside expecting a really soft and slow wicket. However, once again Little and Large (Dave Wilcock and Bob Kirkby respectively) produced a good wicket for the days play.

BAC took to the field first and Danny Wilcock (Dindo, Golden Balls) steamed in with his usual impeccable line and length and claimed 3 victims in the top order, in quick succession, who all scored ducks! Dindo, proved once again why he is in tip top form as he bowled 11 overs 3-15. Skipper Steve Lodge (Captain Chaos, Lodgie, Back Hand) recovered well following his MASSIVE session on Friday night with Jamie Skeoch (Shed Head, Shedders, James) and Alex Unsworth (Unsy, Bobby, Venus, Phil, Chuckle). His first two balls of his spell was a dodgy beamer and a long hop but then kept South Shore quiet and took 2-24 off 13 overs. Spinners Mick Keane (Queeny, Camel but not Billy Keane’s son!) and Tom Wilcock (Our Massive, Willo, Twilly, Coey, Flasher) took 1 and 2 wickets respectively. John McKeever (Macca, Russ, Tanny, Dot Machine, Catalogue Ken, Seaman) did well at the end and took a wicket in his first over. However, the lads couldn’t quite get the last wicket but kept South Shore down to only 85 off the allotted 44 overs (losing 1 over a short rain interval).

With the bat, it was yet another impressive performance and in the same style as the previous home fixture, it was Unsy (Jack / Venus / Gary / Chuckle’s twin brother) and Keano who scored the runs to secure victory. Unsy’s impressive hard hitting caught the eye again as he scored 42 before being stumped. Keano then stroked an unbeaten 24 whilst Mark Whelan (Wheelo,  G.I.D, Lurky) and Dave Holt (Holty, Gypsy) were the other two victims with single figures.

The lads now find themselves in 2nd position – trailing Saturday’s opponents White Coppice by a single point. With both BAC and White Coppice both boasting a 100% record thus far this season, something has got to give this weekend. Good luck.
